性状:黄色或橙色粉末,纯结晶在空气中不稳定,极易氧化,紫外线能使其失去活力,并使其溶液显示特有的绿色荧光,不溶于水和甘油,能溶于大多数有机溶剂如无水乙醇、甲醇、氯仿、乙醚、环己烷、脂肪和油等,遇酸、空气、氧化性物质,紫外线、高温等易被破坏,故应在低温、避光、充氮、加抗氧剂条件下密封保存。香叶酯在环己烷中大吸收率为326~327nm
用途:生化研究。视黄酸受体(the retinoic acid receptor,RAR) 和类视黄醇受体(the retinoid X receptor,RXR)的配体,作为其转导因子,调控正常和恶性细胞的生长和分化。
