沉淀为白色粉末，由于通常用碳酸钠与硝酸银制取碳酸银，碳酸钠水解出氢氧化钠也可与硝酸银反应生成氧化银沉淀，与碳酸银混合后呈黄色，所以通常认为新沉淀时为嫩黄色粉末，混合物干燥后在光线下色泽变深。碳酸银约在220℃时分解为氧化银和二氧化碳，更高温度时分解为金属银。溶于2000份沸水，易溶于稀硝酸、乙酸、氨水和氰化碱溶液，不溶于冷水和乙醇。相对密度6.08。熔点210℃(分解)。有刺激性。
