Auranofin also inhibits 5-lipoxygenase in human neutrophils, IKB kinase (IKK) by modifying Cys-179 of the IKKβ subunit 5 and selenoenzyme thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) which is involved in the defense against oxidative stress.
